Soraya French
Soraya French
Soraya is a freelance artist, tutor and author. As well as painting and exhibiting she is a major contributor to the UK’s leading art publication “The Artist” magazine. The success of her two art books, commissioned by Harper Collins, have brought her both international recognition and a following. She is an elected member of the Society of Women Artists and a member of their council. She exhibits her work with them annually at the Mall Galleries. Soraya is the UK demonstrator for the New York based Art company Golden Artists colours and Caran D’Ache of Switzerland. She carries out a number of lectures and demonstrations for art groups and societies throughout the year and runs workshops at Dedham Hall, Earnley Concourse, West Norfolk Arts Centre and Jack Beck House, as well as a number of venues abroad.
She is a figurative painter and most of her subjects are of transient moments, people going about their everyday life. In her paintings the focus of the subject is supported by abstract and semi abstract passages that create a certain ambiguous and evocative quality in her work leaving something for the viewer’s imagination. Light and colour are the two prominent features of her work. She has been the recipient of a number of prestigious art awards in the last few years and her work is held in many private and public collections both at home and abroad. Her work is exhibited in a number of art fairs and galleries in the UK throughout the year.
