Jo Jo Rowley

Jo Jo Rowley

JoJo was the recipient of the ‘Lorton Arts Foundations, Emerging Ceramic Artist grant in 2008, whilst living in the USA. Now based in Surrey she continues to create hand thrown porcelain works, which exhibit a keen attention to both functionality and form.

Her current body of work, which involves perforating the clay surface to create visually light forms, which play with light casting shadows on the surface on which they are placed were inspired by the suggested tension between the strength and beautiful fragility of shells.

“My journey with clay has only just begun. I am excited by the future dedicated to perfecting my craft. My aim is to make functional, friendly work with a tendency to the feminine and the delicate. Work that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing”

JoJo is currently a member of the following organisations.

Wey Ceramics Society Surrey
Craft Potters Association – Associate member
