Ruta Brown’s personal vocabulary of form and texture has been developed by directly manipulating precious materials using and tools and heat. Specialising in reticulation, she expresses this distinctive visual language through jewellery and small objects of silver and high carat golds.

Drawn to the textural possibilities and structural limits that can be achieved when directional heat is applied to forged, folded forms, each piece is individually fabricated, resulting in a variety of intricate forms, details evoking weathered fragments of flotsam and other marine elements from the shoreline.

Her work has been exhibited widely throughout Britain and also in Switzerland, Egypt and the USA.

A founder member of the Association for Contemporary Jewellery, Ruta has served on the board of directors since 2008.
